Funky Monkeys is a happy backpackers that’s easy to spend time in.
N4 from Jhb: 5th traffic light right onto R40. Next light left into Piet Retief. Go past 2 sets of lights, a roundabout and a 4-way stop. Right into Van Wijk. 2km on right.
Exploding with colour and original artworks, Funky Monkeys has been hanging out in this neck of the woods having fun for a while. So much so, that they’ve branched out into the Kruger and now have a fully equipped tented river camp that provides the base for their wicked safari packages.
At Funky’s you’ll find informative staff manning the travel desk, a bar full of fun, a pool perfect for splish-sploshing, an ATM (until we find a tree money does grow on), a laundry for that whiffy travel bag, internet and a bunch of comfy doubles and dorms. Oh yeah! Also brill home cooked meals (we’ve tried ’em) and resident guides full of tall jungle tales.
