Horse trails and overnight trails in the Mlilwane Sanctuary

Chubeka Trails, a new initiative of Big Game Parks, operate horse trails through the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary. Become one with the wild as you ride amongst free-roaming animals getting close to zebra, buck and other wildlife as you glide through magnificent scenery. Horses take you further than you can get on foot so you can get to places seldom seen - not to mention, see life from a new perspective. Mmm. Fresh air, skin to the sun and nose to the breeze. Versus fuel-fumed air-con and dusty windows? Pah! Ponies any day please. Try the Cave Trail and spend the night in a cave, or tackle the 2 night Klipspringer Trail, heading for a remote bush camp to experience Swazi culture on a rugged yet comfortable and fully catered experience. Not into cross-country? Start with a gentle 1 - 3 hour ride. Want something between hard core and saddle sore? Take on the 4 hour Rock of Execution Challenge and let your horse do the sweating. Most of their happy horses are local crosses who are specifically trained for this work and perfectly suited to long trails. Rides depart from Mlilwane Rest Camp, 1km from Sondzela Backpackers. All riding is guided and suited to both beginner and experienced riders. Groups of 2 - 8 riders can be accommodated. 48 hour’s notice is needed and there is a weight restriction of 90kg.
