Morgan's Bay

Morgan's Bay has some of the most dramatic high cliff scenery anywhere south of the Transkei Wild Coast.

Bird watchers can enjoy trails through indigenous forests and view the 180 bird species recorded here which include blue cranes, sunbirds, hornbills, crowned eagles and lots more. Banyan trees grow near the river and the secluded coastal forest that surrounds Kei mouth shelters blue duiker and bushbuck, as well as an abandoned titanium mine. Surfers can try the exposed beach break that works in small swell and light offshores. A 60 ton sperm whale was washed ashore here during high floods in 1970. A harpoon tip removed from the sea giant is on display in the East London museum.
