Women paint their faces with clay to block out the sun, make bricks, stamp maize for the evening meal, prepare traditional food, brew beer and collect firewood. Men make their own fishing rods from wood and wire, catch fish with throw nets, and crayfish and octopus by hand. Kids herd the cattle, chase the chickens, look after their younger siblings and play Follow the Backpacker.
